Eversource Begins Seasonal Pruning Around Utility Poles & Wires
April 16, 2025
Eversource has informed the City of Portsmouth NH Department of Public Works (DPW) that they have begun the seasonal Citywide utility line clearance pruning efforts with their contractor Lewis Tree Service. The work is expected to continue through September on weekdays between 8 am and 3:30 pm. Flaggers will be in place to direct traffic when single lane closures are needed.
This work is important because vegetation that contacts utility infrastructure is hazardous and may cause fire, electrocution, and power outages. Trees in the right-of-way adjacent to the utility infrastructure will be pruned to the required clearance specifications by the tree professionals from Lewis Tree Service. The work will be monitored by the Department of Public Works Urban Forestry staff.
Residents with questions or concerns should contract Andrew Cutter of Lewis Services at 603-241-1970, Andrew King of Eversource at 603-634-3271, or Max Wiater of the Department of Public Works at 603-610-7305.
