On Tuesday, March 20th, the Portsmouth community is invited to join City staff and representatives from the Zagster bike share program at Street’za (801 Islington Street) at 5 p.m. to learn more about growing the City’s bike share program, perks of annual memberships and potential station sponsorship opportunities.

Beginning at 7:30 p.m. this evening, March 15th, Public Works crews will be conducting a downtown snow load out in order to clear streets and improve safety. These operations will continue throughout the night into early Friday morning. Therefore, all vehicles must be removed off downtown City streets prior to the times displayed per area on the map below. This map indicates the planned routes crews will be addressing in phases throughout the evening. 

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation’s contractor, Northeast Earth Mechanics, Inc. of Pittsfield, NH will soon be reconstructing the railroad crossings on both Barberry Lane and Green Street. The project is tentatively scheduled to start around April 2nd and will be ongoing through the end of May, with a final contract completion date of August 17, 2018. 

Due to tomorrow’s weather forecast, City Hall, the Library and all Recreation facilities will be closed for the day tomorrow, March 13, 2018.

A citywide parking ban will go into effect at 9 p.m. tonight, March 12th; the Downtown Business District parking ban will go into effect at 1 a.m., March 13th.

In February this year, City staff presented the logistics of a potential Neighborhood Parking Program to discuss various factors and requirements involved to implement such a program.

The City of Portsmouth continued the second stage of the McIntyre public input process on Tuesday, March 6th, with two panel discussions focused on transportation and parking, and the elements of a public-private partnership.

The McIntyre Blue Ribbon Steering Committee is hosting these in-depth discussions, which dive into topics that citizens have highlighted as important to the future of the Thomas J. McIntyre Federal Building and property.

The City Council recently voted to increase the income limits for both the elderly and disabled exemptions. Income limits will increase from $40,504 to $41,314 for single taxpayers and from $55,693 to $56,807 for married couples. Total assets for both exemptions will remain at $175,000 whether single or married.

The City of Portsmouth kicked off the second stage of the McIntyre public input process Monday evening, February 26th, with two panel discussions focused on public realm, urban design, and historic preservation.
