August 7, 2018Portsmouth neighborhoods will take to the streets to celebrate National Night Out Against Crime (NNO) on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm. Portsmouth’s neighborhood-based NNO celebration aim to strengthen and connect our community and foster partnerships between Portsmouth residents and members of the Police Department. Sponsored by the Citywide Neighborhood Committee and the Portsmouth Police Department, NNO is an evening outdoors filled with social activities and block parties.

Rosalyn is heading to New England this week, and will visit the police departments in Boston, Portsmouth, Dover, and Portland.
Motorcycle Community Informational Session
July 7, 2018On Saturday July 7th, 2018 the Portsmouth Police Department, with assistance from the New Hampshire State Police, will be conducting a motorcycle informational session for the general public at the Masonic Temple Parking Lot located at the corner of Miller Ave. and Middle St. This session will be held from 9:30am until 1:30pm.
Portsmouth Annual Fireworks Celebration Tuesday, July 3rd
July 3, 2018The City of Portsmouth and Wilcox Industries will be sponsoring the annual fireworks display on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the South Mill Pond across from the Portsmouth City Hall beginning at 9:15 p.m. sharp; the rain date is scheduled for Thursday, July 5th at the same time. This celebration is an alcohol-free, family event.
2 Year Old Saved by First Responders
June 22, 2018On Friday, June 22, 2018 at 5:39pm, Police and Fire Officers of Portsmouth, New Hampshire responded to 325 Little Harbor Road for a report of a two year old trapped in a rock pile. Upon arrival, first responders found a two year old boy pinned between large slabs of stone. Moments before, the child had been playing atop this pile with his grandfather when the slab he was standing on dislodged. This caused the boy to fall forward with the stone he was just standing on, coming to rest on his head.

May 29, 2018The Portsmouth Police Department was called by staff at Gilley’s PM Lunch cart located at 175 Fleet Street in the early morning hours of May 29th at approximately 12:38 AM, for a reported fight occurring between two groups of males inside the restaurant. Staff reportedly asked both parties to leave and the confrontation continued outside and into Fleet Street. Resident Survey of the Portsmouth Police Department
May 4, 2018In October of 2017, the Portsmouth Police Department began meeting with the University of New Hampshire’s Survey Center to conduct a survey of Portsmouth residents. The Department was seeking input from residents regarding their perceptions of the police department’s strengths, weaknesses, level of community involvement, feelings of safety, among many other survey points.
