Fraudulent Delivery Scam Arrest
October 9, 2019On October 8th, the Portsmouth Police received a call from a resident about a new iPhone that was delivered to his house from AT&T, that he did not order. Being familiar with recent scams regarding these deliveries, the resident called to alert the police. Members of the Portsmouth Police Special Investigations Unit initiated surveillance on the residence in question.

Gas Leak at Intersection of Islington St. and Bartlett St.

At 12:10 P.M. today, Portsmouth Police and Fire Department’s responded to the intersection of Islington Street at Bartlett Street for a gas leak. The Fire Department and gas company are working on containing the leak but we are suggesting avoiding the area. The gas leak was caused by a construction accident and is isolated to one area.

September 17, 2019The Portsmouth Police Department in conjunction with the Portsmouth Fire Department, Newington Police Department, New Hampshire State Police, New Hampshire Department of Homeland Security/ Emergency Management and the United States Department of State announce that they will hold a full-scale training exercise on September 19, 2019 between the hours of 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM. The exercise will take place in and around the area of the National Visa Center and National Passport Center located on the Pease Tradeport.
Untimely Death Investigation
September 16, 2019The Portsmouth Police Department and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are investigating a death of a 28 year old male which occurred in Portsmouth on Friday, September 13, 2019.
At approximately 2:51 AM on September 13th, the Portsmouth Police and Fire departments responded to 3370 #15 Lafayette Rd after a female reported finding her friend unresponsive. Despite efforts to revive the male, he was deceased on-scene.
Recovered Body in Piscataqua River
September 13, 2019At approximately 6:10 PM, the Portsmouth Police Department Dispatch Center began receiving calls of a person floating in the Piscataqua River in the area of the decks behind Surf restaurant. Portsmouth Police Officers responded to the area and were assisted by New Hampshire Marine Patrol, the US Coast Guard and the Portsmouth Fire Department, who all responded to the scene with boats.

Hit and Run Accident - Woodbury Avenue
August 16, 2019On August 16, 2019, at approximately 1:05AM, the Portsmouth Police Department received a 911 call reporting a female lying in the roadway on Woodbury Avenue. Patrol units responded and located an unconscious female subject evidencing serious injuries. She was transported to the Portsmouth Hospital where she remains in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with life threatening injuries.
