Citywide Neighborhood Committee Announces Details for National Night Out on Tuesday, August 3, 2021
August 2, 2021
Portsmouth neighborhoods will take to the parks and streets to celebrate National Night Out (NNO) on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 (rain date, August 10), from 5 to 8 pm. Founded in 1984, the nationwide National Night Out Against Crime celebrations on the same night nationwide are designed to strengthen and connect the community while fostering partnerships between residents and members of Police Departments.
In Portsmouth, the 38th Annual National Night Out is supported by the Citywide Neighborhood Committee and the City’s Police, Fire and Department of Public Works.
“National Night Out this year gives families in 17 of our neighborhoods an evening full of block-party-style fun. The Police, Fire and Public Works departments will bring fire trucks, police vehicles and highway equipment to each location, for kids to ‘touch a truck’ and meet McGruff the crime-fighting dog,” said Larry Cataldo, chair of the Citywide Neighborhood Committee. “The events are free and open to the public and we hope people will come out, enjoy the fun and meet their neighbors.”
The following Portsmouth neighborhoods are participating in this year’s event, from 5 to 8 pm. The City equipment visits will happen on a rolling schedule throughout the evening.
