Local History Lecture: The Convoys of the North Atlantic Tuesday December 6
The struggle for control of the North Atlantic was the longest single campaign of the entire war. Spanning from September 1939 until May of 1945 when Germany surrendered, the Atlantic was the scene of constant clashes between the U-boats of the Kriegsmarine and the convoys with their escorts. Always looming in the background was the constant threat of storms and gales.
